Chiemsee and the rivers Alz and Tyrolean Ache are prolific waterways with many species of fish, including eels, perch, pike, carp, whitefish, lake-trout, catfish, and pikeperch.

Fish has always been an important part of the diet in our region, and today 16 professional fishermen provide the local gastronomy, trade and our guests with freshly caught and smoked fish from the lake. Sport fishermen are also welcome to persue their hobby at Lake Chiemsee (i.e. possibility of fly fishing). The fishing season is from 01.05. – 31.10. Permits for fishing from the shore or from boats, which cover the whole lake, (except for the area of „Achenmündung“)  are available at the Tourist Info.
